For me, at the time I acquired Baby, it was not a male or female decision. I desired to have the pup and she was already a female. (LOL) With Georgeanne, I acquired her while Baby was still a pup, Geo is one month younger. I didn't want the problems associated with young male & female homes, so I deliberately chose another female. Based mostly on the way they responded towards each other. Finally Sable. She is what she is and was mature. I just fell in love with her. So as you can see I never sat down and pre determined what sex to acquire when I first started out.

Monday, Oct. 13, 2008: NEWARK, Texas:
I visited a church of one of my mentoring preachers yesterday. Kenneth Copeland, along with Brothers, Hagin, Oral Roberts, Roberts & Pat Robinson were foundational in the word of faith discipline early in my study. Much of what they preach is in my personal doctrinal belief.

The experience in service at Eagle Mountain was annointed and I personally was in the prescence of The Lord during worship.
NOW ON TO MASTIFFS: I have been planning a more established kennel name. "By the sea." is not appropriate as we are no longer in possession of 162 Broadway, Long Branch, NJ. Mixing my faith in God and learning about his gentle giants has me thinking "plain & simple." "Keeper of Dogs" is what I am. In a combination of Hebrew & Yiddish and loosely translated it is "Kelev Maven". This is top of my list.

I am coming to that place in time where I am thinking more about breeding. In doing so I am looking over my herd, and seeing what faults and strengths we possess. I am also factoring in - starting my own line. This would leave out both Sable, by age and Geo.

Baby is a wonderful mastiff, but so short on "show look" as it has been created by public demand. Baby has an old fashion bitch style that was good 15 - 20 years ago. So I would need a boy that not only has what her off spring needs - but he must have it in the extreme. He must also be proven, with genetics that stamp over the short falls.

Right now, I am doing more research than ever.

Peace

This is my installment on the travel of Guardians By The Sea. As we continue to challenge the taking by eminent domain of our property in New Jersey, I have been enjoying Bonner Springs, Kansas. I am near by my oldest daughter and grandchildren in the Greater Kansas City Area, Kansas side. I got an email last night that Mayor Steve Lonegan has been invited to the Kansas Americans for Prosperity chapter. Tonight at 6 pm (CT) Steve will be addressing the Kansas members in Dodge City. Unfortunately thats 360 miles west of here and I am making preparation to decend into Oklahoma this weekend to eventually set up in a strategic location to do two shows in Texas and then two more in Oklahoma before returning to Bonner Springs.

The most eventful episode of this period since I last wrote has been the wounded of Baby by a pit viper! You can see pictures of this at the following link; removed

I have been extremely busy caring for her and making sure the cardio pulminary after math of the venom is minimal. This is why I originally tethered her everywhere we went. Feeling a little guilt to having doing that I set her free a few days as I took the other girls for a run. Now I am certain that tethered is the best alternative for a "runner" especially for a dog such as Baby with such an independent free will who ignors the command "come."

Other than that the equipment and gear are starting to become familiar to me and I am no longer feeling like I am on a space station orbiting Mars. The Coachmen spirit of America was a good selection for a first time long distance traveling gang.

I will have more soon.

Greetings from the highways and the by ways of America. I returned to where I acquired Baby just a few days ago. She has been such a wonderful mastiff. I feel sorry for those who look at mastiffs, who are not 200 plus pounds with heads as big as basketballs as something other than a mastiff.

True even I would bring Sable or Geogeanne into a show ring before Baby, based solely on the discrimination of the type and style going on today. However, this does not diminish the perfect way she represents our breed.

Now onto my opinion of breeders in the community. I recently learned that Eva & George finished a brindle girl. She is absolutely worthy of her new CH. The Gordon's household should be very proud of her accomplishment.

I spent the entire summer under the teaching of Peg & Eric Yates of Dawn Edge Mastiffs. I literally was there all the time, learning what it is to operate a kennel. Many of us think it glamourous to be breeders of such a noble breed. Let me tell you, there is a lot of hard work and dedication that must be put into caring for and breeding. So much so, that one person alone really should not consider anything more than just one or maybe two females at a time.

Also this summer, I had the three girls to the vet for an annual and I am pleased to report they are all very healthy. Sable at 7 1/2 had a senior blood screening and the vet said she is "super". I am still reluctant to show her, as she is a little "bitchy" around strangers. LOL...

Well the summer ended with our road trip and we will be bouncing around showing Georgeanne and possibly Baby in the mid west and south west. Maybe even show up at the California Nationals in December.

Thats about it for now so keep tuning in for more updates.

Well this is certainly a very nice gesture in honoring Baby Independence's memory. Now when I look and play with Baby Bailey I will also remember Baby Independence.

Great job in not letting Baby Independence's memory fade over the past two years! The City of Long Branch obviously did!!!!!
